Dreadball – MVPs out the Wazoo

MVP-Group

Well I’ve been feeling under the weather for the last few days, which is good and bad. The good is loads of painting has been done whilst I recuperate, the bad is I’ve not been able to get any photos to show all you lovely people what I’ve been up to :(. Starting at the weekend I decided to blast through the MVPs I have had sitting for a wee while, as well as the six(Blaine, Painmaster Yurik, Riller, Milesandre, Wyn Greth’zki and Nightshade) that I’m painting up for a mate in return for the Marauder and Corp boosters used to add the reinforcements you saw last week to the Slammers and Centurions. Anyway, enough blabbering from me, here they are…

Blaine

Blaine

This guy was a joy to paint. The model is absolutely brilliant. I didn’t want to deviate too much from the standard scheme, but a hint of turquoise always makes things look better 😀

Painmaster Yurik

Painmaster Yurik

Another fantastic model who I thought looked great in the Mantic images so stuck with that scheme.

Riller

Riller

This guy I’m not so much of a fan of and I think it shows in the paint job :(, gonna have to go back and do up/add a bit more to him until I’m a bit happier.

Wyn Greth'zki

Wyn Greth’zki

Was’nt a fan of this chap, but surprisingly enjoyed painting him. The scheme for this guy came from googling a certain famous hockey player (bet you can’t guess which one :-P) and matching the jersey colour.

Nightshade

Nightshade

This is probably one of my favorite MVP models, and also the one I felt was the easiest to paint. Won’t bloody well stand up though

Mellisandra

Mellisandra

I really hated this model when I first saw it, and this one sat tauntingly on my desk until last. But after just the first layer of turquoise I began to like it more and more (turquoise REALLY does make everything better :D). I think its because the studio paint job really doesn’t show off the details of the model, not saying it’s bad, just not right for this mini.

Number 88

Number 88

Another fantastic mini, and one I wanted to keep fairly simple.

Ludwig

Ludwig

This gentleman was painted up to go alongside my Z’zor team, but with a slightly darker green to add a slight variance. This one was a pain in the arse to be honest, the sheer amount of mold lines was ridiculous, and I kept finding more once painting had begun :(.

Wildcard

Wildcard

Being a Tron fan I loved this mini from the first time I saw it and could not resist doing it in the standard colour scheme.

The Praetorian

The Praetorian

And finally this massive chap(seriously, he’s bloody massive). This one I wanted to keep fairly simple and utilitarian, they are meant to be disposable combat robots aren’t they?

All that’s left on these guys now is a few numbers on the backs and some hexes (in the post :)) with the appropriate threat markings, and then it will be onto painting up my next team. I’ve decided to go for a bit of a Scottish theme on them which will hearken back to my first proper 40k force.

Dreadball – The Enforcer & Anne-Marie Helder Finished

Especially keen to paint up the Blaine and the Nightshade models as I love the look of ’em 😀

Warhammer 40k – Stormraven Base

Had a break from the hobby this weekend, so the wife and I could have a long weekend to celebrate our first year of marriage :D, and much enjoyment was had by the pair of us.

With the jetbike finished I’m now onto the next job, which is the base for a Stormraven. The client is looking for something with that little bit extra, nothing too fancy, just an obliterated nid. So with that in mind I scavenged through my bits box and found a few of my old hivefleet, Irb-Nri, and felt that the Gargoyle would be the best fit for the job. Here’s what I’ve got so far:

Warhammer 40k – White Scars Jetbike Progress!

Today I have been working on the sword, cloak, animal skin and face on the White Scars jetbike. I managed to finish all of them off other than the face and some final touches to the animal skin and here are the results:

I’m particularly pleased with how the sword has turned out and chose the colours in order to match the Kor’sarro Khan I did earlier in the year for the same client. This was done by blening from blackto naggaroth purple, then to genestealer purple to white. In regards to the animal skin, I decided to do this in a semi leopard pattern, as I think this suits the White Scars more than a standard grey or brown affair you’d find on say a Space Wolf. I still think this needs a little work just to pull the colour out a little bit more. Next up is soem more work on the face. hair and beard as so far I have only laid down the base colours for these.

In other news I received a couple of MVPs as part payment for the Dreadball robots commission, so I’ll be painting these up alongside the Enforcer once the jetbike is done 😀

Warhammer 40k – White Scars Jetbike Painting Started

I’m happy to report that painting has begun on the White Scars jetbike, and this is what I have so far:

I’ve decided to leave the white until last, as it’s too easy to mess it up if done before many of the other details. Especially with a colour like red being involved.  So next up will be getting that aforementioned red looking a bit nicer than it is, and getting on with all the details 😀

Warhammer 40k – White Scars Jetbike Construction Complete!

Finished the final wee details required for the construction of the jetbike, such as adding the head, a few tweeks on the positioning on the right arm and a wee bit of fur wrapped around the torso. And here he is:

I began work today on taking away any Dark Angels symbols and replacing them with White Scars lighting bolts. I decide the book across the front wouldn’t fit in, and after rummaging through the old bits box found the Space Marine combat shield to be a great fit, so one green stuff lightning bolt later, I had the perfect replacement. I also knew the torso would need to completely replaced, as there where too many DA symbols in hard to get to places, and wanted to make sure he looked a wee bit more unique.

Next up is the head, I’m thinking one of the marine heads with a top knot added and some good old mongolian-esque facial hair should make it look the part 😀

Warhammer 40k – Basilisk Finished!

Finished up on the Bassy today, and here she is:

Couldn’t come up with a good design for either side of the gun, so decided it was best to leave it blank. For now. If I do have some inspiration I may come back and add something at a later date.

I also got crackin’ into my next commission today, and here’s a wee sneak peak:
