Necromunda – The Space Marine and the ‘Space Marine’

My wee section of the underhive is filled a little bit more with the addition of some of the galaxies finest warriors. The first of these is the Space Marine, a fallen hero of the Imperial Fists brought low by the enemies of the Imperium and swallowed up by the vast beast that is Hive Primus.

This gent will be used for a special scenario, a chance to gain the favour of one of the founding Chapters. I’ll go into more detail once I’ve actually written the thing, but I know it will be a free for all with the victor gaining an awesome reward. I’m going to finish off the model with plenty of dispatched foes from this awesome kit…

Next up is the ‘Space Marine’. This one will be the master of the Fleshworks, a combination of fighting pits, slave markets and ‘food’ production(there’s a great supply of fresh produce in the area).

The tales tell that he is a recruiter for the Imperial Fists, and the armour and mighty stature seem to back this up. The ignorance of the denizens of the underhive only help the tale to spread.

With that in mind, what do you think, should he be an imposter, an overgrown Goliath lucky enough to have found some marine armour or should there be some truth to the tale, he is in fact a recruit of the Imperial Fists. An aberration that failed the initiation process but managed to escape into the underhive? Let me know what you would do.

Warhammer 40k – Stormraven Base

Had a break from the hobby this weekend, so the wife and I could have a long weekend to celebrate our first year of marriage :D, and much enjoyment was had by the pair of us.

With the jetbike finished I’m now onto the next job, which is the base for a Stormraven. The client is looking for something with that little bit extra, nothing too fancy, just an obliterated nid. So with that in mind I scavenged through my bits box and found a few of my old hivefleet, Irb-Nri, and felt that the Gargoyle would be the best fit for the job. Here’s what I’ve got so far:

Warhammer 40k – White Scars Jetbike Progress!

Today I have been working on the sword, cloak, animal skin and face on the White Scars jetbike. I managed to finish all of them off other than the face and some final touches to the animal skin and here are the results:

I’m particularly pleased with how the sword has turned out and chose the colours in order to match the Kor’sarro Khan I did earlier in the year for the same client. This was done by blening from blackto naggaroth purple, then to genestealer purple to white. In regards to the animal skin, I decided to do this in a semi leopard pattern, as I think this suits the White Scars more than a standard grey or brown affair you’d find on say a Space Wolf. I still think this needs a little work just to pull the colour out a little bit more. Next up is soem more work on the face. hair and beard as so far I have only laid down the base colours for these.

In other news I received a couple of MVPs as part payment for the Dreadball robots commission, so I’ll be painting these up alongside the Enforcer once the jetbike is done 😀

Warhammer 40k – White Scars Jetbike Painting Started

I’m happy to report that painting has begun on the White Scars jetbike, and this is what I have so far:

I’ve decided to leave the white until last, as it’s too easy to mess it up if done before many of the other details. Especially with a colour like red being involved.  So next up will be getting that aforementioned red looking a bit nicer than it is, and getting on with all the details 😀

I’m now onto my next commission which will be the Sameal on jetbike model converted up to be a counts as White Scars Captain.

I began work today on taking away any Dark Angels symbols and replacing them with White Scars lighting bolts. I decide the book across the front wouldn’t fit in, and after rummaging through the old bits box found the Space Marine combat shield to be a great fit, so one green stuff lightning bolt later, I had the perfect replacement. I also knew the torso would need to completely replaced, as there where too many DA symbols in hard to get to places, and wanted to make sure he looked a wee bit more unique.

Next up is the head, I’m thinking one of the marine heads with a top knot added and some good old mongolian-esque facial hair should make it look the part 😀

Leman Russ and Korvydave finished!

After a long weekend in Sweden (’twas awesome) it’s back to the painting and since being back in sunny Scotland (it is actually sunny for once :/) I have now completed the Russ and Korvydave. Here they are;

The russ has not yet been named, so I’ve left the forward red sections unadorned so this can be added at a later date if necessary.

Leman Russ and Korvydave Progress…

Well I may have got distracted by a certain Korvydae figure, now re-named Korvydave in honor of the owner, and I have to say he is just lovely. As always from Forge World character figures there is so much history and detail on the figure. And the face, oh the face, such a crisp casting gives such a great area to paint. Never before have I had so much fun painting a face (although he always reminds me of Robocop without the helmet :-/
