I also made up a pitch (mainly just switching some stuff around on the Coliseum) to make their home ground, Echo Station…

Dreadball – Teratons Almost Done!

Only a few more bits and pieces to do and my Teraton team(not the extras :() will be finished :D. I’ve added the bases with their threat markings and done some work on some subtle shading to the armour….

All that’s left now is a little bit of clean up on the white to get rid of any stray splodges, and to get some numbers on them. Numbering I’m still pondering over, as I’m not sure if digital displays is the way to go for two reasons. First it’s what I’ve done for all of the teams so would be nice to try something different, and second, I’m not sure if it would fit with the chipped/damaged/old armour feel I’ve got going with these guys. I want these to link into my Rebs force for Deadzone (an extra way for them to gain some income :)), and that means a lack of anything too fancy.

I’ve also now settled on a team name, the Incom Interceptors. As the local pathfinder pointed out the colours match up an awful lot to a certain rebel spacecraft :D. With the name comes a logo…

Now it’s off to get these fully finished…

Dreadball – Teratons Progress!

I’ve been focusing on getting the Teratons done, as there’s a league coming up soon here in Edinburgh, and I would always rather be playing with a painted team. This weekend was dedicated to getting the red finished and adding a few of the details; eyes, teeth and gloves. Here’s what I’ve got so far…

Next up I’ll be adding a wee bit of definition to the armour, in the form of some subtle shading. At the moment I feel it just looks a bit too unfinished :/.

I’m also workking on some extras for these guys, the first of which is a coach, which I’ve found so far are an invaluable addition to most teams, but especially those without strikers. I’m using the Veteran model that I got as a prize from a tournement last year, and I have to say it’s one of my favorite models from Mantic’s range. I just love him…

He’s obviously still a major WIP and I wanted to try something I’ve never done before on him, black flesh.

I also wanted to invest in some Cheerleaders for these guys. The rules for them in season 2 always seemed a bit ho-hum to me so I didn’t see the value in taking them but always thought the models were great. With the Azure pack that’s just come out (hurry up and ship it to me Mantic!), there is supposed to be a great improvement to these ladies and therefore a greater reason for forking out for them :D.

Dreadball – Teraton Team Progress!

I’ve managed to get a few bits and bobs done on my Teratons in between my current commission, as I have a league coming up soon and would very much like to have them fully painted for it. So here they are with some extra colour….

I’ll be continuing to highlight up the red when I get the opportunity until it’s at the level I want it and from there it’s just a few details here and there until they will be done 😀

Dreadball – Teraton Team Progress!

I’ve not had a lot of time to paint over the last few weeks, what with gearing up for Christmas and a few extra hours at my other job, but I’ve slowly been getting a little work done on the Teratons here and there when I can. I’ve now got the flesh to a stage where I’m happy to say it’s completed…

I think it contrasts really nicely with the light armour, and am especially pleased with how the striped effect work out, giving a more reptilian look :D. I have been distracted by some Deadzone minis over the last couple of days(more on them soon), but hoping to get more work done on these guys soon. Still trying to decide what I would like the detailing colour to be for them, but am thinking blue or orange, or one for the guards another for the jacks, time to ponder some more….

Dreadball – Teraton Team Started!

I started a few testers for Deadzone last week in the form of some enforcers, and unfortunately just couldn’t find a scheme that I was happy with for them. Luckily one of them caught my eye as the perfect colours for the Teratons that have been sitting in a case for a few weeks, so I got cracking into them…

I decided to try out some salt masking on these guys as I wanted a very used look to their armour and I think it came out very nicely. To do this I followed these steps:

1. I painted the whole model with a 2:1 mix of Doombull Brown and Trollslayer Orange

2. Applied a coat of hairspray(just bog standard cheap stuff) and before it was dry sprinkled some salt over the areas I wanted chipping.

3. Once the previous coat was dry I airbrushed over a coat of Rakkarth Flesh, followed by a lighter spray of Menoth White Highlight

4. I applied a good amount of warm water over the models and let them sit for five minutes, I then went over them with a brush carefully removing the salt.

5. Finally I applied highlights with White Scar, focusing on catching the bottom of each chip.

Next up will be the flesh, which as you can see in the image of the guards I’ve already got an idea of where I want to go with it, good old turquoise :D. Not only did I have the team to do, also lots of extras…

I also thought I’d get some use out of the prize I received from the recent Dreadball tournament by making him into the Coach for the Teratons, which I’ll be doing with Gabe as well(for the Zee’s once I get back to them :))

Dreadball – Zee Team Started!

Well, I couldn’t resist these cheeky wee monkeys :D. I’ve always been a fan of playing the ‘funny’ teams shall we say. I’m into gaming for the enjoyment, the story and the general banter that you get from it, not for the win or the competition. I think the Zee’s are going to be a great laugh to play with and lead to some very funny situations :). I’ve only got some base colours on the minis at present and here’s how they are looking…

I decided to go for a colour scheme I had used on my old Tyranids, Hive Fleet Urb-Nri, which as you may be able to tell (from the name or the colours) is based off of a famous Scottish beverage. As such the working name for these guys is currently the Irn Brusrz 🙂

Dreadball – Teratons!!!

Woooooo! The awesomeness that is the Teratons have arrived (apart from the standard restik team :(), and man do they look awesome. I’ve only got the alternate sculpts at the moment, as well as Dozer, as Mantic messed the order up a touch but they’ll do me just fine for now. So let’s have a look:

The armour, fur and flesh is now done on the Alpha Simian and here’s how it looks:

I’m very pleased with the results so far, especially in regards to the Albino look as I felt this was a bit of a gamble and could look terribly wrong. Still got a fair bit of work to go on this chap, but he’s been such a pleasure to work on I can’t wait 😀
