Deadzone – Rebs Teraton Finished!

That’s the last addition to my starting Rebs strike team done and dusted, and here she is…

Teraton-3 Teraton-4 Teraton-5 Teraton-6

With the strike team finished I’m lookinf forward to getting in a few games with them, but it also means I need to get cracking with the scenery. Don’t want to be playing on grey plastic buildings with these guys for too long 🙂

Deadzone – Rebs Teraton Started!

Now it’s onto the final model for my starting Rebs force, the giant teleporting turtle….

I’ll be following much of the same colour scheme for the Interceptors on this one as this is the closest model in relation to them. I will be keeping the red to a minimum however, as I’ve done with the rest of the Rebs 🙂

Deadzone – Rebs Grogans Started!

Time to add some big guns to my Rebs force 🙂

Grogans

Grogans

So far just the flesh and the armour finished on these guys, so still a fair bit of work to go into them.

As you can see I managed to pick up an extra desolater, although I’m now wishing I’d grabbed the extra onslaught cannon whilst I was at it. Powerful as the desolater may be, having already zapped a few enemies straight out f the battlefield in the games I’ve played, I think the onslaught cannon provides s more reliable option. It’s a couple of points cheaper but also starts with a very reliable 5 dice. Even though it can only blaze away, it gives a very reliable ability to keep enemies heads down or even finish off already subdued models. Gonna have to keep my eyes peeled and try and get ahold of another one 🙂

Deadzone – Rebs Yndij Finished!

Another batch of aliens have joined the Rebellion 🙂 …

And with that it is only the Grogans and the Teraton that needs painted before the Rebs are finished, well, until the booster packs are released 🙂

Another enjoyable batch to paint, and had fun trying to get the right kind of reddy brown. In the end I used the following combo:

Doombull Brown basecoat

Agrax Earthshade wash

Light coat of Mephiston Red, leaving the recesses and a little bit of the underside sections the original colour

Evil Sun Scarlet highlight

Thinned Tau Light Ochre fine highlight

Bloodletter glaze

Dreadball – Rebs Soraks Started!

Onto the next section of the Rebs faction, the Soraks…

So far it’s only the armour and the basecoat on the flesh done, as you can see., but it shouldn’t be long before I’ve got a lot more done. Still trying to figure out which sections to paint red to tie them in with the rest of the force, but thinking it may be the gun at this point.

Deadzone – Rebs Survey Drones Finished!

The next batch of my Deadzone Rebs is complete and here they are, as well as some better pictures of the previous batch…

Had a question over on the Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/DeathwatchStudios) about what I used for the bases, so I thought I’d go into that a little more here. Prior to undercoating the miniatures the bases were given a coat of GWs Astrogranite, which is one of the textured paints they offer. I went for this over traditional basing mainly because I didn’t want too much of a grain on the base. As they are supposed to be fighting within an urban environment I wanted much of the base to be fairly flat, with just a little debris. I’m pleased with how it’s come out, but what do you think?

Deadzone – Rebs Humans Finished!

My first batch of Deadzone minis are complete and I find myself very excited about the rest 😀

For just basic troops (not counting the commander of course) there is a superb amount of detail and character to these models, and they where thoroughly enjoyable to paint :). They’ve also given me a great base for the colours I’ll be using across the rest of the force to tie everything together. Now onto the next set of models, the Survey Drones!

Deadzone – Reb Faction Started!

Made a jump into getting the heaps of Deadzone stuff I have kicking about painted. Before I show you some of the models though I thought I’d let you know how I’ve got on in gaming with ’em 🙂

Bad! Just terrible! So many Reb lives lost! I’ve so far played 10-12 games, and have yet to win one :(. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every game I’ve played and think the game is excellent, if a little rough around the edges (which I attribute to the fact it hasn’t officially launched yet, Feb 14th folks!). I’ll go into the gameplay as a whole another time, today I just want to talk a wee bit about Rebs :). I’ve found them to be a very interesting faction with a lot to offer and I think it’s this variety that I’m having trouble getting to grips with and using effectively, not to mention having some specialists unavailable at this time. Because they have a fair amount of cheap but different units it’s all about trying to learn what role they fill and how to combine each to the greatest effect, whilst also being able to focus on the mission at hand. Nothing stands out as a must have, but this gives them an underdog feel, and that’s exactly what the Rebs should be. I’ll be continuing to experiment with different combos of alien critters, and maybe try some proxies for stuff that isn’t out yet(I have been putting doing this off, as I really don’t like to proxy) to see how that interacts with the rest. But enough blabbering onto some pictures….

I’ve decided to paint the Rebs in batches, separating them out into their respective races. I’ve got the base of the armour down on the lot but the first batch I’ll be tackling is the Humans…

After these 5 I’ll be moving onto one of these batches, not sure which yet though…
