Prep: Fully build all models and undercoat black.

A note on drybrushing: When covering larger areas, especially on terrain, I prefer to use drybrushing. This technique requires you to add a light amount of paint to the brush and then remove most of it. Lightly brushing over some kitchen roll until only a small amount of chalky paint is left. When brushed over a model this hits the hard edges but can also be used to build up in layers to create a gradation in colour.

A specific drybrush helps greatly, especially on larger models. Something like this or this.

Back in the Saddle!

I’m finally back and ready to paint! It’s been a tough couple of years for everyone and I’m no exception. I’ve not been posting due to mental illness, general stress and a little bit of painting fatigue. I may write a bit more about that in the future. After a good amount of self care I’m feeling ready to jump back in the saddle and get some content out there.

I’m jumping straight back into guides for Marvel: Crisis Protocol. I took a bit of a break from this over the last few months, which is where the fatigue comes in. The Inhumans managed to form a painting block on me, and I just couldn’t find the inspiration to break it. This week I managed to break through that barrier…

You can find a guide for this pair here, alongside another new guide for Captain Marvel & Crossbones, with Crystal & Lockjaw not far behind.

I’ve also steadily been working away on articles for Tabletop Gaming magazine and I’ll be adding more information about these soon, but for now enjoy some pretty pictures from the guides…

I’d also like to say thank you to those who keep coming back for more and/or checked up while I was absent, and sorry to those whose comments I didn’t get back to.

Until next time, be excellent to each other!

MCP – Another Painting Guide Update!

I wanted to start by saying thank you to all of the people that have got in touch to say they appreciate the guides. It makes my day to hear that people are finding them so helpful. Thanks folks.

I’m still working away on guides, with a couple more core set characters coming your way very soon…

These are all painted with a few changes made form the core set characters I’ve done in the past, and the rest of the core set characters may be a while before they’re tackled. I’m working on a few more conversions that are a bit more involved.

I’m also planning on working on filling some of the gaps. There are a few early characters I’ve not covered yet, and I will be going back to cover Hulk, M.O.D.O.K., Venom, Thanos and the Wakandans when I can. They’ll likely be with a twist on the standard colour scheme or some conversions. Let me know in the comments if theres a particularly cool colour scheme/alt costume you want to see.

I do have a bit of a backlog to tackle before any of that though…

The Inhumans are likely next up on the painting table, but then I would like to tackle some of the terrain. I’ve done some of the terrain from the core set before…

These have given me a bit of practice for the rest and I’m looking at putting together a guide for each of these peices of terrain as well.

Until next time, have a great one!
